Great White Shark - Practice #17

Math Word Problem:

Susie planted carrots and potatoes.  Since these are root vegetables, they grow underground.  So when Susie planted them, she put orange popsicle sticks on top of the carrot seeds and white popsicle sticks on top of the potato spuds.  When she was done, she had 5 rows of orange sticks, and 7 rows of white sticks.  Each row had 4 sticks in it.

1)  Please draw out the problem.  Show a set of carrots, and a set of potatoes.  You don't have to make it fancy.

2)  How many carrot seeds did she plant?

3)  How many potato spuds did she plant?

4)  How many more potato plants than carrots plants will she have in 1 month?
