Great White Shark - Practice #10

Sometimes, this blog will have math problems.  Here is one word problem.  Please read the word problem carefully.  Write down important facts.  Write out the number problem.  Solve (solve means find the answer).

Two siblings (a boy and his sister), went on a field trip together to the great California orchards.  Orchard means fields.  It was summer time, so the trees in orchards were full of ripe peaches.  The farmer told them that if they picked the peaches off of the trees for 8 hours, then they would get $9 per hour together.  Also, they would get $13 for each bin they filled with peaches.  A bin is a very large box.  Before they started picking the peaches, both the boy and his sister decided to go to the store to get some things:  a big sun hat - $5, sunscreen - $3, four water bottles - $2 each, and one bag of almonds - $6.  They went back and worked for 8 hours.  In those 8 hours, they filled 7 bins.  How much money did they each earn?

Please divide your binder paper into 4 sections.  Use your ruler to make nice straight lines.  Use one section to show your work and answer the question.
