Healthy Kids #2

Hello!

Today's assignment is a math review of counting money.

1)  How can you use coins and paper dollars to make $1.42?  Please write down 5 ways.  Remember, $1.00 can be made with coins.

2)  Josie wanted to have a barbecue with her friends during Spring Break.  Her mother said yes, only if Josie would use her savings to pay for the drinks.  They went shopping and bought a barbecue grill for $149, food for $102, and drinks.  The total price was $265.  How much did Josie have to pay for the drinks?

3)  Tomato plants are on sale at the store.  You can purchase 5 tomato plants for $10.00.  How much is each tomato plant?

4)  To send a regular size letter anywhere in the United States, you have to put a stamp on the outside of the envelope.  Each stamp costs 49 cents.  If Josie wanted to invite 10 of her cousins to the barbecue, how much money would it cost to mail those invitations?

5)  Popcorn kernels were on sale for $6.00 a bag.  With all of the kernels, the teacher could have 6 popcorn parties.  How much did the popcorn kernels cost for each party?

Bonus:  The girl wants to buy a gift for her dad, which costs a total of $12.32.  If she only had $5, how much more money does she need to buy the gift.

Please continue to check back for blog assignments.  Take your time and do as much as you can.  I hope you are happily enjoying Spring Break!  Ms. Bhopla
