Challenge Spelling List:  champ, chance, candle, master, match, factor, family, blast, dragon, flatten, grammar, practice, snack, traffic, absent.

1)  Please alphabetize the above list in reverse alphabetical order:  Z to A.  Think of a strategy that you will use to complete this goal.

2)  Make 3 words with each of the spelling words.  For example, if the word is "poetry,"  the three words could be: pot, port, yet.

3)  Write the words, and their definitions (from the dictionary).

This is a spelling activity.

1)  Please write these words three times each.  Use printing.  Use only a pencil.  Neatness counts.

2)  Find each word in the dictionary (it doesn't matter which dictionary).  Then, write the word that comes before it, and the word that comes after it.

So, you should have three words.  The middle word is the spelling word.

- 1.4°F

7°C

Let's convert °F into °C

It was more than 100°F yesterday.

Negative numbers can be fun, especially when you are learning to say - 45°F

Remember to keep a book with you always.  Read everywhere you go.

Mixed Review Math:

1)  jason rode his bike 0.8 mile.  Mike rode 1.3 miles.  Tom's chain fell off his bike and he only rode 0.08 mile.  List these distances from least greatest.

2)  Write the decimal two and three tenths.

8)  A tree can run.

Study this line graph:

ß----------------------------------------------------------------------------à

        0                                                                                            1

The zero represents impossible.  The one represents certain.

For numbers 7 - 11, draw a line graph, then place a dot where you think the probability is represented.

Example:

Ms. Bhopla will drink tea at least once today.

ß----------------------------------------------------------------------------à

        0                                                                                            1

Notice that the dot is not exactly on 1.  We can never be sure that she will drink tea.  However, it is very likely.

WHEN THAT CROW CAWS AT ME AGAIN.
Morning. Just after dawn.
I'll go and sit under the pines
and listen, and wait
while sun climbs higher
in the California sky.
Sunrise becomes time.
Time becomes a simple hope.
The crow knows me well,
and knows I will be there.
I know him, too,
and I know the morning.
I know the pines, and the sky.

The below blog post was created by a student.  Please see answers in green.
**************************************************************************************************
Answer these questions please.

1. Jim had three spider legs. He ate all of them.  How many legs are left? Explain?

3 subtract 3 equals zero.  He had zero spider legs left.  The reason he had zero left was because he ate them, and so the result was less than what he started.

2.  60/2,133
2,133 rounds to 2,000.  So, 60/2,000 simplifies to 6/200 which is equal to 3/100 or 0.03.  Unless you meant:  2,133/60  The answer to 2,133/60 equals:  355 1/2  or 355 R. 3

3.   9,111
      x600
     5,466,600

There was no need to do number 3 by long multiplication because multiplying by 600 can easily be completed by mental math.  First, you multiple 9,111 by 6.  Then add two zeros to the answer.
